ST. LUCIE COUNTY -- Area residents won't have to travel far to be entertained with a special concert that will help keep everyone in the holiday spirit.
At the Sunrise Theatre in Fort Pierce, there will be a free community concert featuring local children's groups taking place from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Dec. 14.
Called "Sounds of the Season," the concert is sponsored by both the theater and the Children's Services Council of St. Lucie County.
"We did this last year for the first time, and it was amazing," said Ashley Mock, communications coordinator for the Children's Services Council. "We filled the theater."
It will feature the musical stylings of the Avenue D Boys and Girls choirs, the Boys and Girls Club drum line, the Frontline for Kids orchestra and Future Generations musicians.
It will feature Sean Boyle, executive director of the Children's Services Council and Jumping Joe, a radio personality from WFLM as the masters of ceremonies for the event.
The same groups who played last year are playing again this year. Theatergoers are asked to bring an unwrapped toy to donate to a local toy drive.
"We have the opportunity to work with these programs and these children all year long," Ms. Mock said. "This concert gives everyone else a chance to see just how talented the children of St. Lucie County are."
Tickets are available at the Sunrise Theatre. The theater is located on Second Street in downtown Fort Pierce. For more information, call (772) 408-1100.
