MARTIN COUNTY --
Music filled the air as newly trained and professional dancers took to the dance floor as part of a first-time event to raise funds and awareness for the Humane Society of the Treasure Coast.
The Fred Astaire Dance Studio in Stuart sponsored a dance series that started in September and culminated with a finale in November, the "Dancing for the Paws" exhibition dance show.
The event raised almost $3,000 and all of the proceeds benefited the animals at the HSTC.
The finale night concluded with approximately 50 guests and dancers who enjoyed an exhibition dance show, group dance lesson, fine wines, hors d'oeuvres, a silent auction, raffle and door prizes. During the open dancing, the participants showed off the moves they learned during the series.
"The animals and staff at the Humane Society of the Treasure Coast want to thank the Fred Astaire Dance Studio in Stuart and its owner, Steve Wilkie, for hosting our first ever dance series and grand finale for the pets," said H. Jackie Ranaldo, STC community relations manager.
The HSTC also thanks its food sponsors: Pei-Wei, Kazu, Starbucks, Chantal's Par Avion and Chili's.
