VERO BEACH — The hustle and bustle of the holiday season brings crazy schedules and unorthodox eating habits. But a stop at Brain Freeze in Vero Beach after a long day can be a healthy, hearty and helpful pick-me-up.
Brain Freeze, a family run restaurant in the larger Miracle Mile area, offers sandwiches, salads, soups, frozen yogurt and more until 8 p.m. on weekdays and 9 p.m. on weekends.
Whether it’s a Cuban, Italian, turkey club or any other meat, cheese, veggies and bread combination, the sandwiches at Brain Freeze come packed with delicious quality ingredients for a satisfying meal at dinner or lunch.
The turkey club sandwich is loaded with turkey, ham and bacon, and can be individualized with any number of colorful vegetables.
The combination of light-green shredded lettuce, bright-red sliced tomatoes and cherry-pepper relish with the triple meats on whole wheat bread is positively scrumptious.
Fresh green salads, such as a Muffaleta, are beautifully presented and also large enough to be eaten alone for a light dinner, to accompany a sandwich or one of the many soups that rotate daily on the menu.
Homemade favorite soups such as chicken noodle, split pea with ham, tomato bisque and red pepper with gouda are some of the available choices.
Brain Freeze is owned and operated by brothers David and Joey Bishop and Joey Bishop’s wife, Lisa, and will celebrate its first anniversary in January.
The idea all started when Mrs. Bishop fell in love with a frozen yogurt shop in another town and the group decided to bring a similar “cool” shop to the heart of Vero Beach.
With free Wifi, getting a bite to eat or a drink at Brain Freeze can even be a way to multitask if the situation calls for no rest for the weary.
A cup of frozen yogurt can be the perfect way to unwind after hours of shopping and Christmas parties, either before or after dinner, depending on the mood.
And if the holiday mood hasn’t even hit yet, Brain Freeze’s holiday flavored-yogurt could make it happen.
The peppermint stick flavor is like candy canes, soft spoonful by soft spoonful.
A creamy yellow yogurt has the unmistakable taste of the popular Christmas beverage, egg nog.
Other flavors include gingerbread, pumpkin and thin mint, and of course the standard favorites, cake batter, chocolate, vanilla, and cookies and cream.
Not only is the food excellent and the frozen yogurt smooth and creamy, but the staff are friendly and helpful. At Brain Freeze, it’s always quick service with a smile.
Hours of operation are Sunday through Thursday, 6:30 a.m. to 8 p.m., Friday and Saturday 6:30 a.m. to 9 p.m.
Brain Freeze is located at 2217 Seventh Ave., Vero Beach. For more information, call (772) 492-9356 or visit www.facebook.com/brainfreezevero.
