SATELLITE BEACH -- Sometimes, the best things come in small packages.
Upon first glance, it could be easy for someone to miss Nippon Thai Restaurant on A1A in Satellite Beach. The restaurant is in a modest-sized building, but, for its size, the large number of customers and great food shows that it packs a powerful punch.
"I like to be here because, even though it's small, people know and love us," said Ruangurai "Noi" Udomsataya, owner of Nippon Thai Restaurant for the past five years. "I know of places that start small and move on to bigger places, but they are not successful. If we expand, we will spend more money without making enough. I will stay here as long as I can."
The small venue makes for a unique dining experience for customers, combining a cozy atmosphere with attentive service for each and every customer.
But, what really sets Nippon Thai Restaurant apart from other eateries in the area is its delicious menu items, which offer customers a variety of freshly made sushi and other Thai cuisine favorites.
For an appetizer, Nippon Thai offers traditional spring rolls, fried tofu, fried squid, chicken satay and fish cakes.
Also, to warm up before their meal, customers can choose from an array of soups, including wonton soup and tom yum kai, which is a homemade soup with chicken, chili paste, lemon grass, mushrooms and lime juice.
Ms. Udomsataya said a customer favorite for the restaurant is the Pad Thai. Customers can choose between tofu, chicken, pork, beef or, for an additional charge, shrimp or squid.
The Pad Thai includes rice noodles, sautéed with meat, egg, scallions, bean sprouts and ground peanuts.
Ms. Udomsataya also offers a variety of spices to add an extra kick.
For seafood lovers, Nippon Thai offers a variety of sushi, including everything from California rolls and tuna rolls to the Chirashi, which features a variety of toppings arranged on a bed of rice.
With more than 30 years of experience at a multitude of restaurants through the years, Ms. Udomsataya said she loves being able to run her own business.
"I love being able to do what I want with the business and advertise for new customers," she said. "I love it. We can keep old customers and get new ones."
Nippon Thai Restaurant is located at 1114 Highway A1A in Satellite Beach.
