TREASURE COAST --
Local college or university students can apply for a $1,200 scholarship offered by the Florida State Association of Supervisors of Elections.
The scholarship will be awarded to a political science, public administration, business administration, journalism or mass communication major who has completed two years of junior college or undergraduate work and is in good standing.
Applicants must be enrolled or accepted as full-time students in a senior college or university in Florida, which is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools.
Each county's supervisor of elections will review all applications received and select one finalist to be sent to the FSASE scholarship committee, along with a written opinion of the applicant.
The committee will select one winner from the finalists submitted by the supervisors to be awarded a $1,200 scholarship.
Guidelines and applications for the FSASE scholarships may be picked up at: Indian River State College, Mueller Campus, (at the welcome desk in Building D) or the local supervisor of elections offices.
Completed FSASE scholarship applications, along with two letters of recommendation, must be submitted by March 18 to the supervisor of elections in the county in which the student is registered to vote.
