Active wildfires this month

There are four active wildfires in Indian River County that the Florida Forest Service is monitoring or actively engaged on.

On March 1, a night wildfire near I-95 mile marker 154 southbound covered 35 acres. The cause is currently unknown.

On March 6, a fire at I-95 mile marker 141 southbound covered 60 acres. Cause is currently unknown.

On March 7, a vineyard fire was started by children on 43rd Avenue between 1st Street and 5th Street that covered .2 of an acre.

Also on March 7, a homeless campfire started a South Park fire in the 800 block of 20th Avenue and covered eight acres.
