Enough with illegal aliens
I live and work in a state overrun with illegals. They make more money having kids than we earn working full-time. Today I had a 25-year old with eight kids; that's right, eight. All illegal anchor babies and she had the nicest nails, cell phone, handbag, clothing, etc. She makes about $1,500 monthly for each. You do the math.
I used to say, "We are the dumbest nation on earth." Now I must say and sadly admit: We are the dumbest people on earth (that includes me) for we elected the idiot ideologues who have passed the bills that allow this. Sorry, but we need a revolution. Vote them all out in 2010.
Drivers be careful
Please, please, please drivers, do not take your eyes off the road while you drive.
With everyone in such a hurry or full of stress lately, it only takes a split second for you to accidentally run a light or sign, or someone else not seeing you coming because they reached over to tune the radio or something, and your whole day and possibly your world can change in a moment with an accident.
This happened to me recently and although I was not hurt, my car is now in the shop getting fixed, and all it took was a quick, momentary distraction, Then, I had a big dent in the door.
There are so many ways we can lose our focus with driving: texting, phone conversations, tuning radios, reaching on the floor for something, putting makeup on, even eating.
Be careful out there, everyone and keep your eyes on the road and hands on the wheel for your own protection. I could have been paralyzed for life.
Show some patriotism
Wouldn't it be nice if our county were seen as the most patriotic community in the state?
One way to get this recognition would be if everybody flew the American flag. Let's all show the colors.
This is about the seatbelt law. We should all make our own choices. If you get hurt while you don't wear it, oh well, we are all adults. But there is a dummy on a motorcycle without a helmet flying down the road. And nobody does anything about that. Why don't they change that law?
More on food stamps
I agree about food stamps. I see people in stores with nice clothes and fancy cars. My husband and I are living on $17,000 a year Social Security. I have bills here that I can't pay. I'm afraid that my lights or water are going to be turned off. We were turned down for food stamps. People who have fought for this country can't get them, but those who haven't been here long can.
More on food stamp fraud
I agree with the abuse on food stamps rant. I have seen so many immigrants who have food stamps who should not have them. The problem is with the food stamp office.
We are having bad times here, and they are giving money away. Then on top of that, people with food stamps are driving expensive cars and SUVs. Are they double-checking these people's Social Security numbers? I thought food stamps were for Americans who need help until they get on their feet? Now it seems anyone from anywhere can get them. I see so many illegal immigrants get it now.
Do all of these people get asked for their Social Security numbers so they can qualify? Or are they free to anyone?
Fraud is rampant
Food stamp fraud is rampant across the Treasure Coast. The other day I was behind a guy in the store. He paid for a six-pack of beer with his EBT card. I only had one item, and followed him out of the store. He got into a Lexus. I can't receive food stamps. I live on my Social Security. How do all of these people come here and get food stamps?
This is regarding the no trespassing sign for trespassers. Is it true that if you put up a sign that people can be arrested? If so, I'm going out to get a few signs right now. I'm sick of the religious people knocking on my door and getting me out of the tub or people throwing things on my driveway. I want to know if they can be arrested.
No local jobs
We moved here last year. My husband has been looking for work ever since. There is a place that employs guys from other areas for the local work, while the local guys wait for the phone to ring for work. Something should be done.
One trash day a week
There only needs to be one trash pick-up a week, and at the same time, the trucks could pick-up the recyclables. Think of how much money that would save.
These people who are city employees complaining of having to pay extra for their health insurance should be grateful to have a job to be able to pay. My home is up for sale and we have to move.
Shape up, VA
Because the Department of Veterans Affairs (better known as the VA) promises to give our courageous wounded soldiers excellent service, but instead provides lousy service, it is a shame to the VA and it is a shame on this nation to allow such injustice to continue. President Obama has done next to nothing to rectify the situation, which should be a lesson for us. If the government cannot or will not help our troops, how can we expect it to take care of 300 million Americans?
No kids at the bar
What happened to the state laws on alcohol? Aren't they supposed to be watching what goes on at places that serve alcohol?
I was at a restaurant and there was a child at the bar. They serve food to children while others drink. Where are the MADD mothers?
Waste of money?
The city pays a code enforcement officer to ride around on the weekends to stop people from selling items so they can better provide for their families and pay city taxes, so the city can pay the code enforcement officer his salary. City government at its best.
Everyone should cut back
All counties are faced with a tight budget. But the fire district doesn't want to cut back. They should cut back, too.
Trash in the canal
People are throwing all sorts of stuff in the canal west of town. It's a shame that we have something as beautiful as the canal, and people are just throwing all their trash into the canal.
The police won't do anything about it. They came out last week and asked me what I wanted done about it. Others who know about this should call the police, too.
