Disney is more than just a destination. It is also an adventure with Adventures by Disney. I am choosing to write about this because I, a member of the travel industry, didn't know about Adventures by Disney.
I picked up a brochure the other day because I liked the color, and it was a Disney brochure. I looked up, completely innocently, and asked one of the agents, Disney goes to Australia? Of course they laughed at me, thinking I was kidding.
So, I continued to page through the brochure and to my amazement, they have 23 different itineraries. They visit North America, as well as Central America and South America, Western Europe, Central Europe, Southern Europe, Asia, South Africa and my favorite, Australia.
I have always wanted to go to Australia; this is my dream destination or adventure. I have looked at many different ways of getting there, what to experience and how while visiting. I hadn't come across this idea.
On Discovery Down Under, I can plunge into the largest coral reef system on Earth, where schools of color explode from every direction. I could choose to ride a camel through the desert and watch a sunset on Ayers Rock, the island mountain. I can explore the land from ocean to desert, rainforest to reef, all with a twist of Disney.
No matter where I choose to go, I will be in a small group of around 10 families with a maximum of 40 guests. I think this is great, because I personally don't like to travel with hundreds of others straining to see and hear during my dream vacation.
We will be in the hands of two dedicated adventure guides, who will be by our side in the world's most captivating adventures, or at least Australia's most captivating adventures. The guides will tell us stories and show me hidden treasures that I wouldn't find on a map. How exciting.
Of course, there will be plenty of time for us to explore on our own. These adventures have free time built into each trip.
I personally don't have any young children, but I hear they offer a great junior adventurer program. Every trip is filled with ways for junior adventurers to make new friends and have fun. Their goals are set up as missions. In the Outback, their mission would be to make and throw their very own boomerangs.
Working with a local artisan, your child will have the time of his life and a memorable vacation. You don't just have to choose Australia, your child can learn stick fighting with a Kung Fu master in China, take archery lessons near a princess-enchanted German castle, learn to throw a trick rope in the southwest and even rope a steer, treasure hunt through the Louvre in Paris, discovering legendary artwork, or even snorkel with the wild creatures in the Galapagos Islands.
No matter which destination you choose, one thing is for sure: wherever you go, there's an amazing adventure waiting for you and your children, filled with fun, amazing things you love to do, sometimes even a special dinner-and-a-movie night.
Well, I told you about my dream destination. Tell me about yours. You can visit places you haven't seen yet right here in our own USA.
Spirit of America visits Philadelphia, Washington, D.C. and Williamsburg, Va.
Spend some time in Boston, Newport and New York City or head further west to Yellowstone and Grand Teton national parks. The Grand Canyon is an awe-inspiring sight in the southwest splendors. Alaska, Denali National Park; need I say more?
Whatever your destination it is sure to be a magical and memorable adventure.
