Philip G. Vitrano, 86, died Oct. 15, 2009.
He was born in Brooklyn, N.Y., and lived in Vero Beach for 27 years.
He served in the U.S. Coast Guard during World War II.
He was a member of the Adult Literacy Society in Vero Beach and an amateur radio operator.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Kathleen; a son, Rick; two daughters, Natalie and Madel and one grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his son, Michael.

Frederick G. Doran
Frederick G. Doran, 83, died Oct. 10, 2009.
He was born in Somerville, Mass., and lived in Vero Beach for 11 years.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
He graduated from Boston University Medical School.
He was a member of the Vero Beach Yacht Club and the Grand Harbor Club.
He is survived by his wife, Jeanne; two sons, Rick and David; two daughters, Susan and Maureen and six grandchildren.

John Francis Nelson, 78, of Vero Beach, died Oct. 16, 2009.
He was born in Stow, Ohio, and lived in Vero Beach for 21 years.
He was a pilot and member of the VFW.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jess and Grace.
He is survived by his wife of 29 years, Estella; a daughter, Linda; three sons, John, Michael and Thomas; a sister, Theresa; six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Mabel Florence Yates, 93, of Micco, died Oct. 15, 2009.
She was born in Savannah, Ga., and lived in Micco for 26 years.
She was of the Baptist faith.
She is survived by two sons, Wilbur and Rayburn; a brother, Charles; 11 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene Ewell; a son, Kenneth and three brothers, Walter, Ray Pryor and Clifford.

Ann F. "Frances" Pender, 87, of Sebastian, died Oct. 18, 2009.
She was born in Germany.
She was an executive secretary and an antique dealer.
She was of the Presbyterian faith and attended the senior citizens center.
She is survived by a son, Richard; and two nieces, Betty and Edna.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William and a son, Allen.
