ST. LUCIE COUNTY -

Two St. Lucie County Libraries will offer AARP driver aafety programs during November.

The Fort Pierce branch library will offer the two-session AARP driver safety program on Tuesday, Nov. 3 and Wednesday, Nov. 4 from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. To register, call Ken Marks at (772) 336-4279.

The Lakewood Park Branch Library will offer the two-session AARP driver safety program on Saturday, Nov. 14 and Saturday, Nov. 21, from 1-5 p.m. To register, call Carol Shroyer at (772) 462-6870.

Though this class is designed for older drivers, there is no age restriction. Registration is required, since enrollment is limited. There will be a small fee for materials: $12 for AARP members and $14 for non-members.

This program is the largest refresher course for drivers age 50 and older. It is designed to tune up driving skills, teach how to allow for normal age-related physical changes, and reduce the chances of traffic violations and crashes.

Graduates of the course may be able to qualify for an automobile insurance discount.

The Fort Pierce Branch Library of the St. Lucie County Library System is located at 101 Melody Lane, Fort Pierce. The Lakewood Park Branch is located at 7605 Santa Barbara Drive, Fort Pierce, in northern St. Lucie County.
