MELBOURNE BEACH - Want to treat your taste buds to a meal that will leave them, as well as your stomach, satisfied? Look no further than Loggerhead Bar and Grill.

Located at 3830 S. Highway A1A in the Publix Shopping Plaza in Melbourne Beach, Loggerhead Bar and Grill offers its patrons a wide variety of entrees for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

"We opened our doors in February 2011," said owner Kathy Lincoln. "Business has been growing steadily, but it was a tough-go at first."

Loggerhead Bar and Grill - named for the majestic turtles that nest on Brevard shores each year - occupies a beloved Melbourne Beach eatery, which closed its doors several years ago, The Surfin' Turtle.

"We're the fourth restaurant to occupy this space since (The Surfin' Turtle) closed," Mrs. Lincoln explained. "I think some people were hesitant to come in at first because they didn't know how long we would be here."

But 18 months later, Loggerhead Bar and Grill has captured the hearts - and appetites - of Melbourne Beach residents and continues to grow in popularity.

Natives of the Boston area, Paul and Kathy Lincoln took up residence in Melbourne Beach in 2000.

"Paul used to be a partner in a restaurant some time ago, but this is my first experience owning a restaurant," Mrs. Lincoln said.

Her background in medical assisting, Mrs. Lincoln initially found herself treading into uncharted waters.

"I really enjoy it, though," she said. "I'm always looking for different recipes to include on the menu."

Some favorite menu selections include their Chicken Apple Gorgonzola salad - served with spinach, roasted peppers, chicken (grilled and seasoned the way you like), sliced apples and Gorgonzola, topped with a tangy balsamic vinaigrette.

Loggerhead Bar and Grill also serves up mouthwatering Mahi Mahi, with your choice of side, as well as succulent Angus-beef burgers, cooked to your specification.

"We also do weekly specials, like 50-cent wings and beers on Monday," Mrs. Lincoln said.

As summer comes to a close, Mrs. Lincoln has decided to hold a special event for Loggerhead Bar and Grill.

"I'm currently in the process of pulling a permit for an event on Aug. 19," she said. "We'll have a band, a car show, and, of course, great food."

The Lincolns feel blessed to have opened Loggerhead Bar and Grill.

"We're very lucky," Mrs. Lincoln explained. "We have a great staff; everyone is like family and we all work very well together."

The camaraderie amongst staff has also been passed along to Loggerhead Bar and Grill's many regular customers.

"There are quite a few frequent patrons here at the restaurant," Mrs. Lincoln said. "Once they walk in the door, our staff knows exactly what they want and just how they take their order. It's a really great feeling, for both us and our customers."

While Melbourne Beach is home to many "snowbirds" throughout the year, those who call the tranquil beach-town home year-round are closest to the Lincolns' hearts.

"Without our local customers, we wouldn't be here. Therefore, we go above and beyond for the locals," Mrs. Lincoln said. "They're the ones who know us and have taken the time to make Loggerhead Bar and Grill the growing success that it is today."

Loggerhead Bar and Grill is open Monday through Wednesday from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.; Thursday through Saturday from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. and Sunday from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m.
