Learn about Lyonia at DeBary Hall Sept. 15
Learn about Volusia County's Lyonia Environmental Center and Lyonia Preserve during a free presentation at 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 15, at DeBary Hall Historic Site, 198 Sunrise Blvd.
Melissa Hughes, program coordinator for the environmental center, will share information about the center, which offers an insight into the county's ecosystems through hands-on displays. She also will discuss the county's efforts to restore and maintain scrub habitat at the 360-acre Lyonia Preserve, which provides a home to Florida scrub jays, gopher tortoises and other scrub animals in Deltona.
The presentation will be in DeBary Hall's stables. Light refreshments and lemonade will be served.

Habitat for Humanity to host fundraiser
Southwest Volusia Habitat for Humanity's third annual "Night Out with Habitat Silent Auction and Fundraiser" will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 15, at University High School, 1000 W. Rhode Ave., Orange City.
Registration will begin at 5:30 p.m.
Food will be prepared by University High School culinary students.
Tickets are $25.
Guest speaker is U.S. Rep. John Mica, R-Winter Park, speaking on affordable housing.

Low-cost pet clinic slated
There will be a low-cost pet shot clinic sponsored by the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals rescue from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 16, at Save-A-Lot Plaza, 1382 Howland Blvd., Deltona.
Donations of dry dog and cat food may be brought to these clinics.
This is a cash-only clinic. Proceeds benefit abandoned animals.

Women's business association to meet
The Four Townes Charter Chapter of the American Business Women's Association will host its monthly meeting on at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 20, at the 4Bs Diner, 143 S. Charles Richard Beall Blvd., DeBary.
Dinner begins at 6:30 p.m. The meeting will start at 7 p.m. The program will cover "Hands On Learning" with Joan Klein as the spotlight speaker.

Country club to host family day
The public is invited to a family day of fun at DeBary Golf & Country Club, 300 Plantation Club Drive.
There will be a business expo to highlight area goods and services.
During the event, door prizes will be given away and there will be a complimentary golf clinic.
The event is from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 15. Admission is free.
