PORT ST. LUCIE - The Port St. Lucie Business Women recently presented two scholarships for the fall semester at their July 19 meeting held at Tutto Fresco in Port St. Lucie.
The Port St. Lucie Business Women/Kay Schaeffer memorial scholarship is an annual award of $2,500 for tuition and books to women who plan to, or are enrolled, at Indian River State College.
The Port St. Lucie Business Women's scholarship is also an annual award of $2,500 for tuition and books to a female student who is pursuing a bachelor's degree.
Courtney Dew received the Port St. Lucie Business Women/Kay Schaeffer memorial scholarship. Ms. Dew recently graduated from Centennial High School in Port St. Lucie. She will major in education.
Bethany Strouse received the Port St. Lucie Business Women's scholarship. Ms. Strouse is a student at Indian River State College who is working toward a bachelor's degree in nursing. She is currently employed as a registered nurse at Martin Health Systems. Earning her degree will allow her to advance in her chosen career.
Melissa DePriest, scholarship coordinator of Indian River State College's Education Foundation, presented the awards.
"The Port St. Lucie Business Women are pleased to be able to help these women pursue their educational dreams and accomplish their goals," said Rhea Cemer, program director, St. Lucie West Campus, Indian River State College and Port St. Lucie Business Women scholarship chairwoman.
Students may apply for scholarships starting Oct. 1 through Jan. 31 through a link on the Business Women's website, www.pslbusinesswomen.com.
