Twisting ovation
I read the article about Chubby Checker appearing in DeLand on Oct. 11. I will be out of town or I would have a front row seat. I hope this event is standing room only.
I had the pleasure of attending his show at the Volusia County Fair last November. He put on a great performance and was very personable with his audience. His actions after the show is what really impressed me.
I had the pleasure of helping with the assistance of the veterans attending from the Emory L. Bennett Veterans Nursing Home. A Florida Highway Patrol officer escorted them to the front of the line of souvenir purchasers and autograph seekers. Words cannot express the humility, patience, and respect Chubby Checker showed our veterans. He took the time to talk and listen to each and every one of them. They were so thrilled. He ranked tops in my book that day, and still is, and I am still awed by the reverence he showed them.
Thank you for letting me extend some praise where it is due.

Saving education
What's our problem? America's public school system is collapsing and we the people are simply allowing its fall? I keep hearing about strengthening the middle class but if America's public school system fails, that task will remain impossible to achieve. Years ago I dreamt up "E Cubed Alliance - Expecting Educational Excellence" and have even given it its own Facebook page, yet I'm not seeing the public's fire that's required for my dream to become reality.
Please help preserve America's preservative - our schools - by forming "E Cubed Alliance - Expecting Educational Excellence" and uniting on its Facebook page.
