Daytona Beach resident chosen for collegiate musical performance group

Junior youth and family ministry major Jimmy Devine of Daytona Beach was selected to be a member of Belles & Beaux, a musical performance group at Harding University.

Sponsored by the department of music, Belles & Beaux is a 12-member vocal that perform a wide variety of new and old songs and travels all over the United States.

Harding is the largest private university in Arkansas.

Ormond Beach student named to dean's list at Roanoke College

April Elizabeth Rust of Ormond Beach was named to the dean's list of distinguished students for the spring 2012 semester at Roanoke College. Ms. Rust is the daughter of James and Melynne Rust.

A student must earn a grade point average of at least 3.5, with no grade lower than a "C," to be placed on the dean's list.

Roanoke College is a classic liberal arts college in Salem, Va.

Ormond Beach resident completes Shepherd Poverty Internship

Joseph Liu, a Washington and Lee University junior from Ormond Beach, completed a summer internship as part of the Shepherd Higher Education Consortium on Poverty.

Mr. Liu, a biochemistry major, spent the summer working for Home Again in Richmond.

He was one of 73 students from 14 colleges and universities who participated in the internships. At the end of the internship experience, the students gathered in Little Rock, Ark., to participate in a two-day consortium during which they gave reports on their experiences.
