Crime Stoppers of Northeast Florida is seeking information on the whereabouts of convicted sex offender Christopher Thomas Benton. Benton has been adjudicated by the courts as a sex offender as a result of a 2001 conviction in Utah for attempted sexual abuse of a minor. As a convicted sex offender, the 50-year-old Benton is required under Florida law to regularly update his address with law enforcement.
Benton was released from jail in Daytona Beach last month, but hasn't registered a local address with law enforcement as required. He has previously listed addresses at various motels in Daytona Beach, Daytona Beach Shores and South Daytona, but is now considered a transient and his whereabouts are unknown. An arrest warrant was issued on Sept. 27, charging Benton with failure to register as a sex offender. His bond has been set at $5,000.
Benton is 5 feet, 11 inches tall and weighs about 155 pounds and has brown hair and hazel eyes. If you see Benton, don't try to apprehend him.
