'The 39 Steps'
"The 39 Steps" is a live radio play, written by Joe Landry and directed by Tammy Herburger, to be presented by the Palm Bay Pirate Players at the Palm Bay High School Theatre at 7 p.m. Thursday and Friday nights, Oct. 4 and 5.

Opening reception of 'Something Fishy'
The Fifth Avenue Art Gallery presents the opening of the award-winning artist, Lori Pitten Jenkins solo exhibition "Something Fishy" 5:30-8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 5.
Ms. Pitten is a Brevard County native and grew up around the water. She recently won the Best of Show in Watercolor at the Melbourne Art Festival 2012. She is known for her whimsical, bold, bright, detailed watercolor paintings relating to fishing, seafood and boating. She has a very pleasant, unique point of view in her paintings.
Visit with the artists, as you peruse the artwork and enjoy light refreshments.
The reception is free and open to the public.

Henegar Center for the Arts announces 'Speech & Debate'
The Actor's Asylum and Upstairs at The Henegar presents "Speech & Debate" by Stephen Karem.
Directed by Michael Thompson, "Speech & Debate" is a wickedly dark comedy with an edge and demonstrates Stephen Karem's understanding of American youth culture.
The story follows three high school outsiders; "Diwata" (played by Kelsie Curry), the theater geek girl, "Solomon" (played by Jarrett Poore); the sensitive nerd with secrets of his own; and "Howie" (played by Dylan Pomichter), the out-of-the-closet transfer student.
When they become the center of a sex scandal that rocks their hometown of Salem, Ore., the three set out to uncover and expose the truth, at least, as they see it. Also in the cast is Jessica Foix.
"Speech & Debate" will be held in the Upstairs @ the Henegar venue, an intimate 99-seat black box-style theatre.
The Henegar Center is fully handicapped accessible with both stairs and elevator leading to the second floor.
Final show dates are Friday, Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 5 , 6 and 7.
Show times are 8 p.m. for Friday and Saturday and 2 p.m. on Sundays.

The Brevard Theatrical Ensemble's storytellers search all year for stories about Florida's historical past.
The events and people involved with the states long history is exciting, funny and sometimes sad, but always entertaining.
For, not only is the state surrounded by water that is enjoyed by tourists, but it has nurtured and produced some of the worlds great events.
The nonprofit ensemble uses these historical facts to bring a frozen moment in time back, so that you can share the common ground on which we all walk.

'Woman in Black' at the Henegar Center
This classic ghost play opens the Henegar Center 2012-13 season in the Downtown Melbourne theatre district.
On Friday, Oct. 12, the acclaimed British ghost drama, "The Woman In Black," opens the 20th Season at the Henegar Center for the Arts in the Historic Downtown Melbourne theatre district.
The play will run a total of nine performances throughout three weekends in October.
The Henegar production stars local actors Terrence Girard and David M. Robertson.
The play is being staged by guest director Donald Westwood, with sound design by Thom Restivo and lighting by Bryce Niehaus.
"The Woman In Black" features a multi-layered story set in the recent past, with mysterious forays to the 1960s and early 1900s.
Spine-chilling lighting and special effects draw the audience into the haunted world of the principal characters.
The play, written by Stephen Malastratt, is based on the novel by Susan Hill and has enjoyed a run of nearly 25 years in London, where it is still running, making it the second longest-running play in the history of the West End.
The Henegar Center is kicking off the season with a blood drive by Florida Blood Centers. Donate on the Big Red Bus and receive a free ticket to "The Woman In Black."
Keeping with the theme, the Strawbridge Art League is hosting its fall exhibit, Dia de los Muertos (Day of the Dead), Upstairs @ the Henegar in the "Haunted Hallway."

Adelines open house and free voice lessons
The Platinum Coast Chorus, under the new direction of certified director Lisa Lupo, is holding an October open house, including free voice lessons.
This three-week program, beginning Oct. 18, will include the basic fundamentals of four-part, a cappella, barbershop harmony, including exercises and techniques to improve breath support, posture, resonance, tone, expression and showmanship.
Three weekly sessions will be offered to potential women members ages 16 and older.
The sessions will be held during rehearsals on Thursdays, Oct. 18, 25 and Nov. 1, at 6:30 p.m. at the Veteran's Complex & Recreation Center, 2285 Minton Road, West Melbourne.
The Platinum Coast Chorus is the local chapter of Sweet Adelines International.

'Under the Harvest Moon' fundraiser at Rockledge Gardens
The Historic Cocoa Village Playhouse will host a "Under the Harvest Moon" fundraiser, Sunday Oct. 28, at 5:30 p.m., at Rockledge Gardens, U.S. Highway 1, Rockledge.
The second fundraiser of its kind, held by the Cocoa Village Playhouse at Rockledge Gardens, the event will include gourmet food from Carrabba's Italian Grill of Merritt Island, with live entertainment by the Cocoa Village Playhouse performers.
Sponsorships are available at $300, $500 and $1,000, with individual tickets starting at $75 and additional discounts for Aladdin Society members.
Proceeds from the event will support the renovation of the playhouse, as well as the The Cocoa Village Playhouse STARS Youth Program.
