Q. What do you see as the biggest issue for the office you are seeking?
A. The biggest issue for Volusia County Schools is our financial ability to fully fund the basic education our students deserve, let alone support more time in the classroom and develop better contributors to our community.
Q. What are your qualifications for the office you are seeking?
A. In order to prepare myself for service, I served on every lay board I could, and attended educational workshops and conferences at every opportunity. I have been on the Volusia County School Board since 1992. This service has included service on the National School Boards Association and as president of the Florida School Boards Association. In addition to executive board positions, I served as the FSBA Legislative Chairman lobbying in Tallahassee and Washington, D.C. Above all, I care about public education and the role it has played in the success of our students and the well being of our community and nation.
Q. If you win, what's the first issue you will tackle?
A. I shall continue to provide the best education for Volusia County students and, as I have in my past service, encourage our students to think beyond the classroom and imagine a different and better world. I shall continue to wisely use every dollar, every technology and every opportunity available to enhance the education of our students.
Q. If you lose, will you continue in politics?
A. Yes, because politics is the way we get things done!
