COCOA BEACH - Two candidates will vie to fill Seat 5 on the Cocoa Beach City Commission in the upcoming election.
Adrianne F. Dillon and Eric Herrburger, both Cocoa Beach residents, will appear on the Nov. 6 ballot for the General Election.
Basic information about the candidates is as follows:
Adrianne F. Dillon
. Age: 59
. City: Cocoa Beach
. Years as resident: 51
. Occupation: president and manager of Beach Rentals of Cocoa Beach, Inc.
. Education: Bachelor of Arts degree in geography from the University of South Florida in Tampa
. Organizations affiliated with: Cocoa Beach Citizen's League; president of Citizens and Businesses for Cocoa Beach; founding board member (but recently resigned to run for Cocoa Beach City Commission) of Friends of the Cocoa Beach Library; and Florida Wildlife Hospital
. Marital status: single
. Children: one daughter
. In 100 words, explain what makes you the best candidate for Seat 5 on the Cocoa Beach City Commission: "In choosing a candidate, it is preferable to know whether that person can provide effective leadership to move the community forward through change, while preserving what should not be lost. I served two years as a Cocoa Beach City Commissioner in 1996 and 1997. This initiated my learning an incredible amount about my community and the processes of government. It will take courage and commitment to make the tough decisions needed in this era of austerity. We have dilemmas facing our city, which require the ability of a seasoned businessperson, who is experienced in making successful decisions and being fiscally responsible."

In 100 words, explain what makes you the best candidate for Seat 5 on the Cocoa Beach City Commission: "Transparency of issues, feasible long-term solutions and unity of the city is the path forward. This is the approach I use in my professional life in which I positively influence the future of our Space Program. I am fully engaged in re-framing the government's future use of launch assets, and will be fully engaged in re-framing Cocoa Beach's future. The commitment I make to the citizens of Cocoa Beach is to ensure the right things are done. I draw upon my 25 years of engineering and management experience and education to provide the necessary tools to accomplish these goals."
Voters may head to the polls for the General Election on Nov. 6.
