INDIAN RIVER COUNTY - A teacher from Sebastian who was arrested on drug charges was released from jail on Oct. 17 on a $5,000 bond.
William "Bill" Tilden Howle IV, 40, 497 Melrose Lane, Sebastian, was arrested on Oct. 16 and charged with possession and purchase of marijuana by the Indian River County Sheriff's Office.
Mr. Howle is a teacher at Gifford Alternative School, according to an arrest affidavit. Information about the consequences of his arrest to his job were not available at press time.
A cooperating source gave an undercover police officer Mr. Howle's information after Mr. Howle approached the source about obtaining marijuana.
An audio and video recordings shows Mr. Howle completing a transaction with the undercover police officer, purchasing 1 ounce of marijuana, which was obtained from the sheriff's evidence custodian, for $300.
After the transaction was completed, Mr. Howle was arrested and the marijuana was put back into evidence.
Mr. Howle said he purchases marijuana once a month, the arrest report said.
