Daytona State to conduct open auditions for the musical 'All Shook Up'
The School of Music, Entertainment and Art at Daytona State College will conduct open auditions for "All Shook Up," a fun rock musical based on the music of Elvis Presley, at 3 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 7, and at 6 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 8. Auditions will be in the Choir Room, Goddard Performance Hall (Bldg. 230), on the college's Daytona Beach Campus, 1200 W. International Speedway Blvd. Call-backs will be on Friday, Nov. 9
The two-act production is based on William Shakespeare's 1602 play "Twelfth Night," and features Presley hits such as "All Shook Up," "Jail House Rock," "Heartbreak Hotel," "Love Me Tender" and "Blue Suede Shoes." The audition will include a one-minute prepared rock and roll piece (music from the show is encouraged), dance and read from the script.
Rehearsals will start in January; production dates for the musical are Feb. 22-24 and March 1-2.

Guild works on display at Ormond library
The Ormond Beach Art Guild will be displaying its artwork at the Ormond Regional Library during November. The art is a collection of watercolors, oils, acrylics and pastels done by guild members.
The non-figurative abstract paintings of local artist Antoinette M. Slick and Jenny Balisle of Remond, Calif., will be exhibited at the Ormond Memorial Art Museum from Oct. 26 through Jan. 13.
The museum is at 78 E. Granada Blvd. in Ormond Beach. It is open 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday and noon to 4 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday.
Admission is free, but a $2 donation is suggested.
