Hall of Fame induction rescheduled
Due to Hurricane Sandy Friday, the DeLand Sports Hall of Fame induction was rescheduled to during the DeLand- Flagler Palm Coast game on Friday, Nov. 2.
Those being inducted are Johnnie Daniels, Jim Dreggors, Dave Hiss, Sara McLarty and Leslie Valerie.
Game time is 7 p.m. The induction will take place at halftime.
Flag football registration opens
The New Smyrna Beach Parks and Recreation Department is conducting youth flag football registration.
Cost is $50 for residents, $58 for non-residents.
Registration deadline is Tuesday, Nov. 20. Games start the week of Jan. 14. Participants may register between the hours of 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at 1000 Live Oak Street, New Smyrna Beach.

Tennis lessons slated
The City of DeLand Parks and Recreation Department will be offering youth tennis lessons by DeLand Tennis Academy's coach Brad Erlandson.
Sessions are on Tuesdays, starting Nov. 6 and ending Dec. 18. The fee is $60 per participant for the six-week program for children ages 4-12.

Fishing tournament slated
The Halifax Sport Fishing Club will hold its fifth annual Surf Fishing Tournament from 8 a.m. to noon Saturday, Nov. 10.
Fishing will be held along the beach south of the beach ramp past the Frank Rendon Park, 2705 S. Atlantic Ave., Daytona Beach Shores (about two miles north of Dunlawton on A1A). Participants may park there or on the beach. Cost is $10 for club members and $20 for nonmembers.
Prize will be given for the heaviest fish and first and second place prize money.
Only two rods per person are allowed.
Coffee and doughnuts will be provided. Participants may start registering at 7 a.m.
There will be a tent set up on the beach.

Girls youth basketball league registration opens
Registration for the 15th annual Girls Youth Basketball League continues through Nov. 5 for girls ages 7 -15 (as of Sept. 1) at the Ormond Beach Leisure Services Department Registration Office, 399 N. U.S. 1. Office hours are 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 7:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday.
Registrations can also be done online at www.ormondbeach.org if participants have completed a Leisure Services Department General Information/Release and Waiver of Liability form this calendar year.
Fees are $57 for Ormond Beach residents (proof of residency required) and $85.50 for non-residents.
A coaches meeting will be at 7 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 8, at the Performing Arts Center Building, 399 North U.S. 1. Coaches and sponsors are needed.
A pre-season training/skill assessment will be held Nov. 5 and 7. Times will be printed on the receipt when participants register. Participants must be registered and must make at least one night of the training/skill assessment before being placed on a team. Team practices will begin Nov. 12 and games will take place Dec. 3 through Feb. 22.

Women's golf group to hold season opening event
Executive Women's Golf Association Daytona Beach Area Chapter members and guests will "Tee It Up" at LPGA International Golf Course on Saturday, Nov.10. There will be golf, lunch and prizes.
They will be finalizing their month-long "Rally for the Cure" fundraising efforts with a rally 50/50 and rally drawings for prizes.
