Derek Gores' 'Collage Europe!'
Friday, Nov. 2, 6-9 p.m. is opening night of Derek Gores' first solo exhibit in Brevard since 2010.
Expect large format collage work, created by recycling magazines, maps, menus, notes and other elements gathered on his European trip.
Backers of Mr. Gores' project on Indiegogo.com funded the trip, achieving three objectives: Mr. Gores held a free collage workshop for young artists at Stockton Sixth Form College in Stockton-on-Tees, UK. He introduced his collage works to galleries in Paris and the UK, and Mr. Gores created this new body of work inspired by the trip.
Mr. Gores says to expect his particular take on the people, places and things experienced from the view inside and outside his "briefly European head."
There will be a spot in the gallery set up for guests to make their own mini collage.
Also in the lab will be the photography of UK photographer Helen Davies in her USA debut, and collage works by Derek's workshop students from Stockton Sixth Form College, UK. Ms. Davies will be at the opening, as well.
Derek Gores' "Collage Europe!" Art Exhibition will be held at EGAD! Art Lab, 1405 Highland Ave, Melbourne.
The work will be on display for one month.
EGAD Art Lab hours are typically Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and by appointment.

Auditions for romantic comedy-drama
Auditions for "Same Time, Next Year" will be at 7 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 11, and Monday, Nov. 12, at Surfside Playhouse, 301 Ramp Road, Cocoa Beach.
This comedy was adapted into a 1978 film, starring Ellen Burstyn and Alan Alda.
The plot of the play is about two people, married to others, who rendezvous once a year for 25 years.
Twenty-five years of manners and morals are hilariously and touchingly played out by the lovers, who discuss the births, deaths, marital problems, and social changes affecting their lives and develop an emotional intimacy deeper than what one would expect between two people meeting for a clandestine relationship just once a year.
The performance dates are Jan. 11-27.
