JoAnn Heenan of Titusville, a volunteer for the Merritt Island National Wildlife Refuge, shows brothers Kennyel, 9, and Kenneth, 11, Hernandez of Rockledge the way to tell the full size of an alligator by just measuring from the eyes to the nose. Every inch equals a foot of size, meaning this gator was twelve and half feet long. The Brevard County National Resources Management hosted its first Kid's Wetland Festival Saturday, Oct. 6 at the Rich Grissom Memorial Wetlands in Viera.
