PALM CITY - The former Martin Downs Golf & Country Club has new ownership, a new name and new management.
The Palm City golfing destination has been purchased by the Greenwood Investment Group and is, effective immediately, now operating as the Martin Downs Golf Club.
"The Greenwood Investment Group, LLC, is comprised of longtime residents of Martin County and has significant experience in the golf, country club, food service industry and business management sectors," said Sam Yates, spokesman for the group.
"Lead by veteran businessman Brian Wenrick, and supported by associates David Yaworski, and Brian Allabastro, this experienced team will continue to promote Martin Downs as a premier place to live and play," Mr. Yates said.
While terms of the purchase are proprietary, the Greenwood Investment Group has announced plans to make improvements to the existing facilities on a short- and long-term basis.
"The Osprey golf course will remain open for play during our organizational transition," Mr. Yates said.
In early November, Martin Downs Golf Club members and prospective members will have an opportunity to meet key individuals from Greenwood Investment Group at the main clubhouse in a special meet-and-greet event. Details of the meeting will be posted at the clubhouse and distributed by email to current members.
"During the special meeting, members will have the opportunity to learn more about this exciting new chapter in the future of the Martin Downs Golf Club, while reaffirming their current membership or becoming a member of the new club. This is an exciting time for all of our residents and we look forward to sharing our vision for the future with our members," Mr. Yates said.
