Operation Safe Surrender is scheduled for Tuesday, Nov. 13, at Greater Friendship Baptist Church, 539 George W. Engram Blvd., Daytona Beach.

The event is an opportunity for individuals to turn themselves in for minor warrants in a safe and friendly environment. The event is staffed by community and church members with Daytona Beach Police Department officers providing procedural assistance.

Operation Safe Surrender will start at about 7 a.m. and run until about 2 p.m. Volusia County Judge Bell Schumann will be in attendance as well as representatives from the State Attorney's Office and the Public Defender's Office.

Many times the participants have minimal, if any, contact with officers. Legal representation will be on site for assistance with the judicial process. As in past years, Judge Schumann will hear the participant's cases immediately.
