ST. LUCIE COUNTY - Residents of St. Lucie County will recognize veterans of the United States this weekend with a variety of events.
In Port St. Lucie, there will be a ceremony at 11 a.m. on Nov. 11 at Veterans Memorial Park, 2100 S.E. Veterans Memorial Parkway. Various local veterans groups will present a special program. Music will be performed by the Port St. Lucie Concert Band. Seating is limited, so lawn chairs are encouraged.
Also in Port St. Lucie, a power lifting event will be held at the Port St. Lucie Civic Center, "Salute the Veterans." Fifteen different age groups and 22 weight classes will compete. Admission is $10.
St. Lucie Medical Center will be holding its 10th annual Veteran's Day recognition ceremony at 12:30 p.m. on Nov. 9. Every year, the hospital publicly honors the contributions of veterans. This year, the ceremony will be held at the hospital near the flagpole.
There will also be a veterans celebration at Jetson TV and Appliance, located at 4145 S. U.S. 1 in Fort Pierce.
Starting at 11 a.m., there will be groups of local nonprofit handing out information, along with food and music. Also, an appraiser from the Treasure Coast Road Show will be present to give free appraisals on memorabilia. For more information, call (772) 464-7050.
Also in Fort Pierce, there will be a Veteran's Day ceremony at 11 a.m. at the Riverwalk Center, 600 N. Indian River Drive.
And the Navy SEAL museum is putting on its annual muster program, now in its 27th year.
