STUART - It's going to be a swinging good time as the Kane Cabaret afternoon concert series returns for its second year.

The Council on Aging of Martin County is bringing back the popular series that attracted about 200 to 300 patrons per show.

"We had a lot of requests for it this year," said Denise Belizar, marketing manager of the Council on Aging of Martin County, a nonprofit that provides programs, such Meals on Wheels and in-home services, to help seniors live independently in their own homes.

Organizers said this year's cabaret series will be bigger and better, expanded to five concerts, set for one Sunday afternoon each month beginning in November.

The series opens with "Broadway Duets," starring Shelley Keelor and Bruce Linser, on Nov. 18.

One of the most popular shows from last year, these entertainers deliver an interactive performance with the audience, while singing favorite show tunes and selections from Broadway classics, including "Annie Get your Gun," "Guys and Dolls" and "Funny Girl."

The following month, the center will stage "Home for the Holidays" with Wayne Hosford. The show is set for Dec 9.

"The Ultimate Variety Act" with Derick Warren is set for Jan. 13. "Songs of the Stage and Screen" with Missy McArdle is up next on Feb. 10 followed by "Jazz Standards from the Great American Songbook" on March 24 with the Irwin Solomon Trio.

All proceeds benefit the Council on Aging of Martin County and its mission.

Last year, the concert series generated about $18,000 and helped fund social, wellness, medical, nutritional, educational and cultural programming through the agency.

"The purpose is two-fold: to raise funding for the Kane Center and to bring in some top entertainers that you don't often see here on the Treasure Coast," Ms. Belizar said.

All concerts will begin at 2 p.m. at the Langford Theatre and Auditorium at the Charles and Rae Kane Center, 900 S.E. Salerno Road, Stuart. Doors open at 1 p.m. Light refreshments will be available for purchase. Tickets cost $15 for Kane members and $20 for non-members. The series is available for $60 for members and $90 for non-members. To purchase tickets or for more information, call (772) 223-7800 or visit www.kanecenter.org. Tickets will also be available at the door before concerts.
