The coolest cats in town celebrate the golden era of swing with a contemporary edge.
The Kings of Swing and the Kings of Swing Orchestra will perform at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 6, at the Peabody Auditorium in Daytona Beach.
Under the direction of Paul Francis, three of Europe's best swing vocalists perform the greatest hits of Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Nat King Cole and Tony Bennett along with more recent hits by Michael Buble and Brian Setzer. Hear "Mr. Bojangles," "Mack the Knife," "Fly Me to the Moon," "Everybody Loves Somebody," "I Get a Kick Out of You," "New York New York" and other swing songs performed with flair by international musicians.
What began as a headline show for the 2003 summer season in the Blackpool Tower Ballroom in Great Britain, the Kings of Swing show was an instant hit.
The beauty of swing music, most popular during the Great Depression and World War II, was its crossover appeal to people from all walks of life, all ages and cultures.
From jukeboxes to radios to ballrooms and in homes, swing music lifted spirits. Current audiences combine folks reliving that nostalgic era with younger members who have joined the swing revolution.
