PALM CITY -- Piper's Landing Yacht & Country Club is hosting a free Wounded Warriors golf outing on Dec. 8 from 11 a.m.-4 p.m., to honor and empower veterans who have been wounded or injured during combat.
The event includes two hours of golf instruction facilitated by PGA professional Judy Alvarez, Michael Eye, Piper's Landing head golf professional and assistant professionals Al Lorafice and Patrick Royane.
A barbeque lunch and a round of golf will also be provided.
Ms. Alvarez is the national trainer for the PGA of America's Help Our Patriots Everywhere program and specializes in golf instruction for wounded veterans and people with injuries or disabilities.
"I have been teaching golf as a form of rehabilitation and therapy for many years and have seen firsthand the positive impact that golf can make on the mental, social, physical and emotional well-being of wounded veterans," said Ms. Alvarez.
The free event is open to disabled veterans and their families. Brian Reich, general manager of Piper's Landing, said the event has been in the works for many years.
"We have many veterans who live in Piper's Landing," said Mr. Reich.
"We feel like it's our patriotic duty to give back to these wounded warriors who have given up so much for our freedom."
Piper's Landing Yacht & Country Club is a private, luxury, gated community in Palm City.
